The Saras Group has been active in the production of electricity from renewable sources since 2005, through its subsidiary Sardeolica, which manages a wind farm situated in Ulassai, in the middle-eastern side of Sardinia.
The wind farm consists of 48 aero-generators "Vestas V80" with a total installed capacity of 96 MW. When operating at full capacity, the expected production is approximately 171 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual needs of about 60,000 households.
Saras Group's generation of wind power responds to international and national requirements to produce energy from renewable sources, in order to satisfy growing demand, while respecting the environment and common interests, through sustainable development initiatives.
The electricity produced by the wind farm is introduced directly into the National Transmission Grid and sold to the GSE (Italian Power Supply Company) under the term and conditions set forth the agreement drafted by the AEEG (Italian Electricity and Gas Authority).
The Ulassai wind park is located in one of the most windy areas of the region, and this allows a significantly higher power production than the National average, during most of the year.
Sardeolica manages the maintenance and the operations of the Ulassai wind farm, in order to keep the highest level of electricity production, adopting best in class solutions and guaranteeing the respect of the laws, and also preserving Health, Safety and the Environment, as well as the quality of its production processes.
In 2006 Sardeolica achieved certifications of its Environmental Management System (EMS), according with the International standards ISO14001:2004. This certification has been successfully renewed in 2009 and lately in July 2012. Also, in July 2012, Sardeolica extended the EMS to the standards of BS OHSAS 18001:2007 (Health & Safety) and ISO 9001:2008 (Quality).
Sardeolica's Ethical Code are precisely expressed in the following documents:
- The Ethical Code;
- The Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies;
Certificate EN ISO 9001:2008, EN ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007
