Environmental responsibility: our approach

Throughout its history of production, Saras has never underestimated the importance of combining industrial development and environmental sustainability; on the contrary, it considers it a necessity both now and in the near future.

Aimed at the achievement of excellence and value creation, the objectives we have achieved so far bear witness to the company’s real commitment to improving safety standards, including “BREF for refining" (best available techniques reference documents) for implementing EU directive 61/96/CE IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control), as a guarantee to staff, the local community in which Saras operates, Sardinia and investors.

It is vital for the company to maintain an open, mutual and responsible dialogue with all stakeholders, based on the sharing of timely information on the management of environmental issues in respect of the plant’s operations. Saras encourages a way of working, in its everyday operations, in which the environment and safety are an integral part of its growth strategy; it is conscious that no financial objective can be responsibly pursued without respecting these key values. To this end, Saras is committed to continuously developing and improving environmental protection practices.
